• The base is made of ceramic glass, a material that does not release toxic substances when heated, is not porous, does not absorb odors or flavors from food, and is not reactive to acidic foods. Corningware does not contain heavy metals, such as nickel or chromium.
• The lid is made of pyrex glass or borosilicate glass: made of borosilicate glass, the most non-toxic material that exists and therefore totally safe. It is the glass that is recommended for people with allergies or sensitivities or for people who appreciate the highest purity in materials.
