Properties and benefits of Pau D'arco
The pau d'arco (Tabebuia impetiginosa) is a tree common in South America that grows spontaneously in the rain forests of Peru and Brazil and on the slopes of the Argentine Andes.
This plant has a well-documented history and some South American tribes, in particular the Tupi-Guarani, still use it as a tonic and invigorating.
The phytocomplex, composed of the internal bark of the plant, is very rich and contains naphthoquinones, including the characteristic lapachol, which has a structure similar to that of vitamin K and has a significant activity against free radicals and support of the immune system.
