Description
Ecoidees birch sugar Xylitol is one of the most interesting natural sweeteners, suitable for diabetics, and for any consumer wishing to reduce or stop their consumption of sugar. It is produced from one of the constituents of birch wood, hemicellulose. This manufacturing does not require the use of chemical solvents, and xylitol can be considered as a product of natural origin as opposed to synthetic chemical sweeteners like aspartame or acesulfame K.
Indication
Xylitol is an alternative to sugar with a very low glycemic index (7-8) and does not cause a peak in blood sugar. It is therefore particularly suitable for diabetics. Xylitol is good for oral health, and is a known ingredient in candy and chewing gum, the claim of which is "good for teeth" is allowed. Xylitol has a sweetening power equal to raw sugar, but 30% higher when baked: in pastries, use 70g of Xylitol for 100g of sugar.
