Description
Betaine, also called trimethylglycine or TMG, is a nutrient naturally present in spinach, beets, and shellfish, among other foods. As the name trimethylglycine indicates, it is made up of three methyl groups.
Properties and benefits of Betaine Anhydrate (Tmg)
Betaine contributes to the normal metabolism of homocysteine. In high concentrations, homocysteine is a toxic metabolic product. Betaine Anhydrate powder can help in that case.
It is the deacidified form of betaine, so it is not harmful to the stomach or teeth. A recent improvement has made Bonusan Betaine Anhydrate Powder have a finer structure and even better solubility in water and fruit juices.
How to take Betaine Anhydrate (Tmg)?
It is recommended to drink daily 1 to 4 times 2 measuring spoons, diluted in water or fruit juice. One level scoop equals approximately 0.6 g of powder. It is preferable to take betaine with or immediately after food. For a good level of homocysteine a relatively high dosage is often applied: 6 grams of powder per day, to be taken distributed throughout the day. In principle, to keep the heart and blood vessels healthy, a dosage of 0.5 to 1 g is sufficient. To support the liver (for example in case of intensive use of alcohol) the recommended dose is 1 to 2 g of powder per day. Lower dosages are used for general support of liver function. TMG can cause an unpleasant body odor with people suffering from a rare deficiency of the enzyme demethylglycine dehydrogenase. Measuring spoon is included.
Precautions
A varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle are necessary. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a balanced diet.
Storage conditions
Store in a dry place and at room temperature.
