The bacterial strain Saccharomyces boulardii has several different types of mechanisms of action that can be classified into three main areas: luminal action, trophic action, and signaling effects. Saccharomyces boulardii has no effect on the normal microbiota in healthy humans, however, in people with diarrhea, the normal microbiota is quickly restored.
