Borage (Borago officinalis) is an ancient annual plant native to the eastern Mediterranean area.
Its oil is one of the richest plant sources of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a long chain fatty acid from the omega-6 series. In fact, it reaches up to 26%.
GLA modulates the body's inflammatory response, finding use in case of skin disorders, thanks to the moisturizing action that prevents water loss and therefore skin dryness.
The anti-inflammatory action is also effective in alleviating the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome and some states of joint inflammation.
